Question: Can I use normal sewing thread to cook with?

( Back )

Answer #1:

cotton...yes...I'm not sure if polyester will melt or not

Answer #2:

It depends on the die they used in the thread. Will it bleed into the food?

Answer #3:

Yes, I do it all the time. I even use a sewing needle for tying up chickens and turkeys after stuffing. I don't think it would matter if it were cotton or poly. It would not melt in a 350 degree oven if it won't melt when a hot iron is applied to it.

Answer #4:

You could but you would need to go around the meat as many as a dozen times, fo each tie. Even then I still think it would break.

Try using tooth pecks or kebab skewers.

Answer #5:

Will it be strong enough to hold the food in a roll , if so.... use it.
Another way would be to hold it in place using tooth picks.
